Developing people can be one of the most complex and challenging tasks facing a leader. But it can also be one of the most rewarding things a leader can do.
When setting goals, you can start by asking yourself:
- What do you need to achieve?
- What do the people you are leading want to achieve?
- Where and how do these overlap? Where are there conflicts?
Learn
- You can never fully know a person, but as a leader your goal is to learn as much as you can about what drives your people.
- The best way to learn about a person is through observing them.
