Problem Solving
While leaders should always seek to remove obstacles from the paths of those they are leading, the role of a leader is not necessarily to solve problems. A key aspect of being a leader is being able to quickly recognize where problems belong. Is a problem yours to solve? Should it (rightly) belong to someone else or another team? Should it be escalated? Or perhaps should the problem be given back to the person or team that raised it?
Giving a problem back to someone can be a challenging thing to do. But it can also be the most instructive, empowering, and beneficial solution. However, it's important not to just throw the problem back; start asking questions. TODO ...
If you bring me a problem that I think you should be able to solve I’m not going to just solve it. I’m going to start asking questions until you realize the solution to the problem or at least the path to the solution.
